Almost a direct reflection of those HS teams national rankings from when those kids were in HS! Makes sense.  Also I wonder how many kids labeled from "New Jersey" were actually from other states and recruited to wrestle for private schools like Blair? A lot, I bet.

Kizhan Clarke is fun to look at in these statistics.

The only at-large bid to place (not to mention coming in 2nd overall)

worst ranked wrestler to make the finals at 15 (and even through all of the 3rd/4th matches, the worst seed represented was 11th)

transfer from American

went to High School in Florida

Yeah it would be fun to stack these up against the high school rankings at the time. A lot of these schools that are at the top of this list, including public and parochial catholic schools, recruit either directly or indirectly recruit from all across the country. Ferrari ended up at Bergen Catholic and Blair in spite of being from Texas.  Alex Meade tried transferring to Easton before they denied him athletic eligibility.  St. Paris Graham in the past has had strong influence and is a public school.  Even I went to a high school that was not near where I lived for the sake of wrestling.

1. Most of Blair’s lineup is pretty local to the school itself..

2. when these lists come out guys from other states that went to blair get credited to the other states , Sherman and Ramirez both lived at blair for 4 years but are credited for being qualifiers for Florida .

3. all the Bergen Catholic qualifiers live pretty close to the high school , cedeno, Foca , Griffith, suriano and zargo are from Bergen county and live less than 10 miles away from the school ,Cardenas is from another county in NJ but only 20-30 minute drive to the HS from his home town

Almost a direct reflection of those HS teams national rankings from when those kids were in HS! Makes sense.  Also I wonder how many kids labeled from "New Jersey" were actually from other states and recruited to wrestle for private schools like Blair? A lot, I bet.

Not the case at all.  NJ Public and Catholic schools produce the great majority of NCAA champs-All Americans and qualifiers EVERY  YEAR. Of Blairs 7 wrestlers, 4 were born and bred in NJ. Every year NJ, with or without Blair, from homegrown kids only, have the 2-4 most NCAA qualifiers and are usually 2-4 in most (homegrown) all Americans.

Dear USA wrestling fans. Stop diminishing NJ high school success by incorrectly attributing it to Blair.  From Bergen Catholic/Delbarton in North to Camden Catholic/Brick in South to Pburg/del valley in the West to South Plainfield in the central leading the way (so many others can be named), NJ wrestling is, imo, a solid 2-4 nationally. With Blair kids who are ONLY NJ bred (mastro, Coliacco,Cannon, Van Ness Inconterra recently) NJ becomes an even stronger 2-4.
