Bozak2018 97 Report post Posted March 30 Any PSU insiders know what the plan is for these two? Joe was a starter last year and couldn't get in the line up this year. I assume Matt redshirted this year? Any chance these two get in the lineup next year? Will they transfer?

Cael will put Haines on the redshirt circuit and wait to see how he performs at the scuffle. Matt will wrestle off with Facundo and frankly don't count on an easy task there for Matt, but we will see and whoever is best will go. 2 TBar1977 and Elevator reacted to this
Elevator 307 Report post Posted March 30 There is a lot of young talent there at 157 and 165 and in that room as workut partners and mentors. I will be not be surprised if whomever emerges will be competitive in the B1G.

Elevator 307 Report post Posted March 30 I thought they should have increased qualifiers by 3 or 4 per weight in view of the holdovers and Edsell could have won a few matches at NCAA's. 1 mlbruem reacted to this

If this isn’t sarcasm, he lost to Cael Carlson at B10’s who went 0-2 at NCAA’s.
nhs67 2,139 Report post Posted March 31 (edited) IF the Lee brothers duck on out and Kennedy Monday comes in it will be potentially two less people in the room for Monday to lose the theoretical 165lb starting spot. He could then be no worse than 3rd behind Facundo and Edsell right? Edited March 31 by nhs67
Jimmy Cinnabon 411 Report post Posted March 31 Joe Lee has shown flashes but wrestles in pretty much the polar opposite manner as his brother Nick. Nick is fundamentally and positionally sound and attacks in a relatively low risk way. Joe is always trying for the flashy throw which more often than not results with him getting pinned. It's odd how 2 brothers who grew up in the sport together have such different styles. 1 CoachWrestling reacted to this

Prime example, he was beating the defending champ in the state finals his freshman year, could have played it safe and likely would have won. Instead he stayed hyper aggressive and got pinned. I just don't see the same wrestler that beat Shane Griffith at Fargo and has wins over David Carr.
JeanGuy 147 Report post Posted March 31 I think that Joe Lee has really suffered a mental block in wrestling. I have a feeling that the coaches are trying to clean up some of the things that he does that is reckless and it has hurt his aggressiveness. It is one of those things that he just doesn't seem to get the difference between being aggressive and being loose. At least that is my thought. I haven't seen Matt Lee at all but he seemed to have a decent RS year.
