Husker_Du 885 Report post Posted March 31 I actually like it. it says in neon lights that it's not a ranking, but a rating. now, they could make adjustments to their algo, but what the world doesn't need is another set of college opinions. 2 flyingcement and poorwrestler reacted to this
Jimmy Cinnabon 411 Report post Posted March 31 Starroci has a lower ELO than Lewis despite a 23-0 record, being NCAA champ and beating Lewis head to head. Lewis is 24-2, with a head to head loss to Starroci. I don't know how ELO is calculated but how is that possible? It must mean that Lewis had 20 victories over opponents over much higher caliber than Starroci?
Husker_Du 885 Report post Posted March 31 not sure. he probably got some sort of bonkers points for beating Cenzo. idk.

Which is more reason why I think something needs to be tweaked, as Starocci is now a 2x reigning champ and Lewis hasn't won since 2019 Edited March 31 by 1032004
Jimmy Cinnabon 411 Report post Posted March 31 Mekhi is 62-6 career, 1/2 for NCAA titles Starroci is 37-2 career, 2/2 for NCAA titles
Hufarted 31 Report post Posted March 31 Meh, the rankings on wrestlestat are kinda "ballpark", if you get my drift. Still a fantastic site, I love the detailed info on all the active wrestlers.

It must mean that Lewis had 20 victories over opponents over much higher caliber than Starroci? I am not sure what their system is but it is certainly not an Elo. I know they call it an Elo, but it is definitely not. Elo ratings are zero sum. If wrestler A beats wrestler B points transfer from B to A. The number of points is determined by the difference between their starting Elo's. I took a glance at some of the wrestlestat history for Lewis around his big wins and loses: When Lewis beat Joseph in the 2019 final his "Elo" jumped 62.71 and Joseph's "Elo" dropped only 14.24. When Lewis lost to Hayden Hidlay in this year's VT / NCST dual they both lost "Elo" points. When Lewis lost to Starocci in this year's final neither "Elo" changed. Maybe it was an Elo rating at one point, and sure they call it an Elo, but it is definitely not an Elo.
