EM_1996 16 Report post Posted June 7 Honestly, I didn't think it was that bad. I didn't see a greater number of bad calls than one typically sees in an international tournament. I do think that some of the stateside refs are still struggling to call certain positions in the same manner of other international refs....grounding for one. I was mainly paying attention to men's freestyle so I can't speak to other matches, but I don't believe the officiating truly impacted the outcomes of any matches. Grumbling aside from JO's fan base, he was not robbed; he simply didn't do enough to win. If any call or non-call struck me as truly odd, it was JO literally running away from Retherford for the better part of a minute at the end of their 2nd match.
