headshuck 2,626 Report post Posted August 7, 2013 Looks good. OSU and MN should have a good chance at 9-10 AAs. For MN we need our top guy (Steinhaus) to have a strong recovery.

skikayaker 93 Report post Posted August 8, 2013 This is a good topic. I need to do a little research for Penn and I hope someone contributes for Lehigh. Unfortunately Ivy league teams don't have the advantage of redshirting, but hey do have the trade-off advantage of a great education and I think Penn may be starting a few true freshman. My Penn State contribution is not very original, but here goes with my hope for 10 AAs/3 Champs: 125 Megaludis 1st (I'm hoping Nico redshirts to extend the talent at the lower weights for PSU) 133 Gulibon 3rd 141 Moss/Waters 8th (I'm hoping for a Retherford RS - PSU will need the big guns after the two big guns graduate) 149 A. Alton 4th 157 D. Alton 3rd 165 Taylor 1st 174 Brown 3rd 184 Ruth 1st 197 McIntosh 3rd 285 Lawson/Gingrich 5th

Stove_Pipe 15 Report post Posted August 8, 2013 Note on Austin Miller, who apparently plans to transfer from Bucknell to Okla State. I've seen Miller compete and though he physically is not a big 125 pounder he is quite talented, when healthy. Back in 2010 he placed second in the PIAA AAA's at 103 and took third place in the 2011 PIAA AAA's at 112 pounds. He started as a true frosh for Bucknell the 2012 season, was Navy Classic runnerup, wrestled well in dual meets, placed third in the 2012 EIWA's, competed in the 2012 NCAA's (0-2) and completed the year about 22-14. This past season he went about 15-8, out a lot with injury. We shall see if he ends up at Okla State and how he does.

rossel3 77 Report post Posted August 8, 2013 Iowa 125 - Clark/Gilman 4th 133 - Ramos 1st 141 - Dziewa 7th 149 - ??? big unknown Kelly (possible wt issues) Cooper (extracurrilar issues). Cooper has higher potential, could be 3rd 157 - St J 1st 165 - Moore 6th 174 - Evans 3rd 184 - Lofthouse 3rd 197 - Burak 7th Hwt - Telford 3rd My overly optimistic scenario could have Iowa with 2 champs and possibly 10 AA's. tirapell 34 Report post Posted August 8, 2013 I thought J'Den Cox would be a college HWT? Is 197 confirmed for him. I love the optimism. Everyone's got 9-10 AA's on their team. Shows how tough it really is to AA at the D1 level, because there are only 8 spots.
badger 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2013 Wisconsin isn't going to win the NCAA title this year, but Graff has a shot and there's some good young talent on the team. Best guess of lineup: 125 - Taylor 133 - Graff 141 - Thielke 149 - York may drop from '57 and will battle with newcomers like Ruschell or Lubeck 157 - Jordan 165 - Cousins 174 - Liegel 184 - Hein (rumor on Wisky board is that he's dropping from '97) 197 - McCall HWT - Medbery
headshuck 2,626 Report post Posted August 8, 2013 I hope Graff can figure out how to hide a gas tank in his singlet, or come up with a duck under to counter Ramos' forward movement.
badger 0 Report post Posted August 8, 2013 I hope Graff can figure out how to hide a gas tank in his singlet, or come up with a duck under to counter Ramos' forward movement. Me too. Easy to root for Graff especially because he seems to have the edge in technique and is the one who is actually committing more to offensive shots instead of just hand fighting and bulling forward (and yes I'm obviously biased). Hard to fault Ramos though because it worked. Graff has a great rep for his discipline and work ethic so I suspect the gas tank is just an inherent advantage Ramos has. I wonder if cutting from 141 mid-season was a factor though. I hope so. Go Graff!

Shows how tough it really is to AA at the D1 level, because there are only 8 spots. Not decided yet on Cox. Mellon has two years of eligibility left & Cox has a redshirt year if needed. He may wrestle a year or two @ 197, but pretty sure he'll end up @ heavyweight @ some point.
fudge_tunnel 118 Report post Posted August 8, 2013 I thought J'Den Cox would be a college HWT? Is 197 confirmed for him. Not confirmed at all, I was just guessing. Mellon is a legitimate D1 heavy right now, and J'Den was walking around at 205 last year. It's going to take him a while to fill into a good sized collegiate HWT. It would make the most sense for either Miklus or Cox to redshirt this year at 197, then the other do the same next year, then have Miklus at 197 and Cox at Hwt for the '15-'16 season, each with 3 yrs left. But what do I know....
