Some good picks overall. I also like the bold picks. Hell, I picked Valdes at 60, and I'm sticking with him.

Surprises:

Nobody (other than the Iranian Journalist) picked Lashgari to win 84.

Nobody picked Kumar at 55 (He's been red hot beating Yang earlier this year)

Mildly surprised that nobody picked Zaseev at heavy

Marginally surprised of the many picks Dato is getting at 84.

Its a bit disappointing that so many journalists who cover wrestling picked athletes who are not competing. I also am surprised by how many people picked Dato, honestly, I have Lashgari as a significant favorite if he is healthy . For Greco I have Russia at 74, 84 and 96 and Turkey at 120, Azerbayjan at 66 and no clue at the first 2 weights.

Kumar is just too unknown for me. Never seen him wrestle. I am not very comfortable in my pick (Israpilov) and would not be shocked if Kumar won. The worlds are going to be great. With a possible Burroughs injury, every weight is up for grabs IMO. Can't wait.

Did you notice that Burroughs is the only person to be selected on every journalist's list - even the Iranian?

He's joking. Yang has an even worse first round match in Israpilov. Very interested to see what Taghavi brings with the newest rules. He has incredible ability but chose to play the clinch game way too much. Hopefully he wrestles a more open style now.
