Dr_Gonzo 1 Report post Posted November 10, 2013 People are starting to realize you don't win much wrestling Rutgers style. I wonder if it's the coaches?
LongShot 13 Report post Posted November 10, 2013 Certainly looks like Retherford has put some distance between himself and AA since they last met. I love what RU is trying to do but they might need to take a hard look at the coaching staff.

NJWC 305 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 What do The Tank's wrestling accomplishments have to do with his ability to coach? Â For one, it would suggest that he knows what it takes to be very successful at the D1 level. That really needed to be explained to you?
LongShot 13 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 Its early and Molinaro is obviously a great guy to have in the room but who else is there? RU fans are on edge with the last couple of seasons. Ashnault NEEDS to do well.

acadia 0 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 The issue is Goodale. End of story. He's a great program builder he is not a great coach or the right coach to take RU to the level it needs to be.
LemonPie 1,368 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 Retherford is a beast. I know it's early, but looking at 141, I wouldn't be surprised to see Zain and Collica AA as true fish. Â Ashnault not so much

I don't think anybody thinks he's a fish...besides, if he was, wouldn't they be able to just throw him into the Raritan?
LoStNuMbEr 320 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 I'm not going to sit here and defend rutgers lack of results, but I would point out that Anthony is a TRUE frosh. How long has he been in the Rutgers room? A few weeks? Can you really blame Goodale for Ashnault struggling this early into his career?

ban_basketball 16 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 Gee, why does this thread remind me of last season, when the opening whistle of the season hadn't even been blown and Jackson was already destroying the storied history of ISU? JohnnyThompsonnum1 101 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 It's hit and miss with these types of predictions but I always love the couple of years later, "I really enjoyed the fact that wrestlers careers last longer than once season their freshman year era" myself. Dr_Gonzo 1 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 I don't think it's fair to bag on Ashnault yet. I think it's totally fair to look at what Rutgers has done the last several years with high recruits and point the finger at that coaching staff. Plain and simple they are not getting it done and that is fact, there is no disputing that. I'll give Ashnault some time to prove to me he's not Scott Winston or Mario Mason but the Rutgers coaches need to take a long, hard look in the mirror. They deserve every bit of criticism they receive.
ban_basketball 16 Report post Posted November 11, 2013 I've argued that point for so many years that it shouldn't be a mystery at this point, but it's equally a simplistic "argument" to say that it is solely the coaches' fault. It just isn't that simple.
