Alexander_Delarge_655321 63 Report post Posted November 17, 2013 Nebraska won with 2 back ups in the line up at 184 and HWT. Seems this dual came down to OT matches and pins.

I don't see Munster beating Kokesh but a decision there for Munster would have tied it up.
Alexander_Delarge_655321 63 Report post Posted November 17, 2013 The FFT was a surprise but Kokesh won the dual last year against Munster 11-3 but anything is possible.
jammen 336 Report post Posted November 17, 2013 NW forfeited 174 after introducing Dylan Marriott. This is a disturbing trend in college wrestling that cheats the fans. How may forfeits are we going to have this year before rule changes are made.

Flying-Tiger 617 Report post Posted November 17, 2013 Way to go T-Shirt; he's my second guy in LMS!
jammen 336 Report post Posted November 17, 2013 Meh. Tshirt won but the match was all Sueflohn trying to score on a guy playing the out of bounds. Tsirtis only got hit with one stalling call because Sueflohn's td attempts ended up in long stalemates.
HenDog 1 Report post Posted November 18, 2013 jammen: I did not see the match but Tsirtsis must have had the only takedown?
GockeS 534 Report post Posted November 19, 2013 my understanding is sueflohn just learned he was not going to redshirt a wk or so ago.... so not in shape.... maybe sucking down a bit... but still...he didn't wrestle as well as perhaps he should have... jammens assessment is fairly accurate

How may forfeits are we going to have this year before rule changes are made. Interesting they introduced Dylan Marriott at 174. Marriott is on the NW roster as a 149. Against Air Force, they sent out David Helmer at 174 who is also on the NW roster as a 149 (he got pinned by Connor Witt from AF). No other guys in the room close to 174 they aren't redshirting? How may forfeits are we going to have this year before rule changes are made. I don't think seed protection is happening here for a few reasons. First, it's early in the season, so there's plenty of time to bounce back from potential losses. Also, seed protection only really works late in the season because in order to protect a seed you need to be solidly in that seed and there can't be major flux around you, none of which is true when we have over 3 months of wrestling to go. Second, the depth of 174 this year makes seed protection relatively ineffective. Last year, the big seed protection move was Dom Bradley sitting vs. Okie State. But, that happened at the end of the season when there was little chance of great movement in the rankings, and it also happened in a weight where there were three heavy favorites. So for Bradley, protecting the 1 seed meant no Z or Nelson in the semis. This year, 125 shakes out similarly, and you can watch to see if Delgado gets benched late in the year so he doesn't have to see Megaludis/Garrett in the semis. 174 goes 8-9 deep in God knows what order so seed protection doesn't really work. Odds on he sprained his ankle in practice or something like that and Pariano is holding him out as a precaution.

I think he was referencing the fact that NW weighed in a 174lb wrestler and had him come out for introductions and then chose not to wrestle him. This robs the fans of a match that they paid to see.
