There look to be a lot of really exciting matches at the Scuffle this year. Some I'm especially excited for:

125: Zanetta back from RS, want to see how he does against Mega and Garrett (I think he has the ability to beat both)

149: Houdashelt, Saka and Dardanes are all pretty close in skill IMO, should be fun to see which comes out on top.

157: Wow, I agree on Dieringer coming out this year and running for 3x NCAA titles. Really excited to see Ness vs Alton (if he's back and 100%) and St. John - could be interesting results.

197: While not posted, the guys ranked 1, 2, 4, 7 and 11 are all there - and I will go on record now saying I don't think any of them are going to win it

#1 Tyler Meeks Oregon State

#2 Scott Schiller Minnesota

This may be the most loaded weight class. I can't even pick a winner. I just think this will be a complete toss up. Two guys who probably can't win but will raise eyebrows are Jace Bennett and J'Den Cox.

Great news on him being back. What is his return date? How many duals will he have under his belt?

This tourny has becoming better than the Midlands IMO. They have turned this into one of, if not the, marquee tourny in the country. Discounting the NCAA tourny of course.

Another really great bit is that there's no separation between fans and participants. Last year I sat 2 rows behind the Browns, 15 feet from DT, and talked central PA high school wrestling with Q's mom the entire second day. Can't wait to go back :D

Coaches are saying early December.

Didn't he tear an ACL or something like that? If so, that is a quick recovery. Then again, he always seemed like a tough, tough guy so I'm not shocked. Hope he is at 100% for Minnesota this year, both for the Gophers sake and his. Way too good a wrestler to go out on anything but a high note.

He could probably make a big difference in the title race at the end of the season. With him and Ed Ruth at the top of 184, and UoM and PSU being the top of the team race, I'm sure that match-up, if it happens, will have a huge say in who wins NCAAs.

I think Gulibon wins 133

Curious... Why do you think so?

He is a good wrestler

Yeah, but there's just too much talent at 133 going to scuffle for me to be confident saying anyone will win. Mango, Grey, Conaway, DiCamillo, and Morrison might have something to say about giving it to Jimmy right now. Also, Waters may compete at 133 unattached. The only weights that I'll predict with any confidence are 165, 184, and heavy.

#1 Tony Nelson Minnesota

vs

#3 Nick Gwaidkowski NC State

Could be a dandy!

Maybe, but Nelson beat him pretty easily last year. I think he's about as much of a lock as Stieber, DT, and Ruth, and he'll walk through the season pretty much unchallenged. The matchups I'm really looking forward to are Megaludis/Garrett II, all of 133, Zain vs. the big boys at 141, the Ness/Alton/Dieringer triangle, the Perry/Storley/Brown triangle, and the Meeks/Schiller/McIntosh triangle. It's going to be a fun two days :D
