Crusader2017 1 Report post Posted November 24, 2013 Can anyone give a definitive answer on what happened to Dake's hand, and whether it happened before or during the tournament? I've been hearing "Broken", but is that in any way confirmed? If so, what kind of recovery time does that entail? And how would you stack this injury up vs. Burroughs's ankle? Personally, I don't think that Bronze Medal match would've been as close as it was had Dake commanded full control of both hands.

tec87 328 Report post Posted November 24, 2013 I'm going to guess that it might be hurt but not broken. Let's be honest here, while this is a big tournament, this isn't the World Championships or the Olympics. If Dake broke his hand before this tournament, he wouldn't have wrestled and if he broke it during the tournament, he would have defaulted out. The same thing would have gone for Burroughs and any other US athlete as it pertains to this tournament. If it was World's/Olympics then they would definitely go out hurt and compete. Yes, that's true. But it seems pretty obvious that even if his hand was not broken, he could barely use it. But he beat Tsargush anyway (who recently teched Taylor, BTW) and that's pretty awesome. wfan24 172 Report post Posted November 24, 2013 I thought his hand was damaged looking at the way he got smoked by Gadziev, but he came out for 3rd place so it must have not been too bad.
AnklePicker 380 Report post Posted November 24, 2013 If he had won that bronze medal match he would have made $3000. That might have added an incentive.
