Flo Blows. Or Am I Wrong?

Recommended Posts

As far as the quality of the service, in the past I have had a few complaints, and I'm not in love with a lot of the commentating (actually I think it's just that Bader's voice doesn't agree well with my ears, love the guy though and love his passion, just doesn't sound great coming out of my computer), but this year so far I have been very pleasantly surprised by the quality of the video.

For cost, I don't know about you guys but I don't think it is at all unreasonable to pay ~$7 per event, not to mention all of the interviews and other video that is posted (much of which is free). Hell, if you watch 4 events a month you're paying $5 per coverage... that's more than worth it to me. If you got up and drove to a single one out of those events you'd spend more than that on gas before you ever get in the door (unless you live on campus like myself...).

Anyone have any sort of ballpark for # of paying subscribers?

yes, you started a whole thread and didn't get one single reply. so interrupt a conversation on another thread.

its not marketing and it's not a 'promo piece'. we were screwing around in the office. and my heavens, there's cursing in there!

we get it. you don't like flo. it's the second thread you started stating it. now go back on the other forum and talk on your secret LXP board about how terrible we are.

See, this is the defensiveness/sarcasm that is unprofessional that I have referred to. Yes, people are upset. I work for a company that can really frustrate people. I listen and it helps me understand. I look at the solution; not the problem. You don't need to act the way you do. It doesn't help solving the issues.

Your service needs to fit the customers needs. Coaches, technicians, wrestlers are examples of people who benefit greatly from your website. I think it's terrific when it comes to the educational videos of the wrestlers and the techniques they show us.

However, us fans are more interested in the live events we get to see. That part needs some improvement. I hope you guys are financially successful. You are a business now. Some of us were spoiled in the past when everything was free. I know that had to change. Wrestling needs the service you provide. Maybe you all can get a survey together and learn a little bit more of what your customers say and listen to the input.

I would like to rejoin FLO. I just want a little better product/service. Please step back and listen to us. I'm sure you will improve after you hear what we all have to say.

ryan, that post wasn't directed to people with criticism in general. it was directed at Brew and his buddies at another forum from which there has been some friction. there's context there.

i don't think ive been defensive in this thread.

the concerns are twofold:

1. Quality of Product - which i think is excellent. the scuffle, the ironman, who's #1, flonationals, cklv and all the USAW events etc have all gone off flawlessly with the exception of the time/s when there isn't on board graphics. the only time a feed was ever spotty was the morning of day 1 of S32 and the first day of Freak Show (same day, for whatever reason).

2. Customer Service - which we have made strides in, though, admittedly, we still have to improve on.

we're always working to improve both, and are investing time and resources into doing so. and i hope we're viewed as receptive to feedback, criticism, and suggestions.

for the poster asking about the balance between college and hs...we'd like to do as many events as we can. often times it comes down to rights. for instance certain conferences have the rights to any and all events on that occur on their campus, which is difficult to work around.

Hats off to Flo. Since the beginning I could upload photos (I'm not a video guy). The photo albums would show up on the front page of Flowrestling for all fans to see. About 1 1/2 years ago the sight was updated and the photo feature was broke. The pictures would upload and if you didn't save the link to view the photos they were gone forever. A number of photographers and Zeb Miller complained for close to a year with no luck. We weren't a high priority at the time. I went from being a top 10 contributor to being off the board. I stop posting photos on flo and used facebook instead.

With Ironman this weekend I gave it a test for this year and it WORKED. Thank you! You can see photos from the Solon Comet Classic by scrolling down Flo's home page and selecting the Album. I look forward to again posting my photo on Flo this season. Solon, Ironman, Hudson, Medina, Brecksville, Top Gun, Ohio HS States, NCAAs, OAC Youth and JH States tournaments plus many college duals.

Once again thank you for fixing the photo albums.

Did not read the whole thread, but I have a quick question re: Flo Subscriptions.

I pay the yearly subscription and can watch the technique videos, and the "Program" series. Do I have to pay another fee to watch live events like Ironman or the now passed Iowa at Boro?

youre all set granby

Awesome.

On topic, Flo offers the best amateur wrestling coverage on the planet. Their service can still improve, but I'm willing to pay to see great clinicians and the highest tier of our sport. I took off work to watch the 2013 world team trials and I loved every second of it.

I agree Flo is Awesome... I also took the long trip south for the WTT. They were GREAT.

Might as well jump in on this one since I'm a Flo customer. To me, Flo is worth every penny.

Where else are we gonna see Metcalf and Taghavi in the "back room" right before their World's match. How about the Russian Nationals or even just the practice sessions before Russian Nationals. Or Mark Bader and Joe interviewing Russians wrestlers through translator King G. Just great stuff, nevermind all the live wrestling coverage.

Oh yeah, and I agree with Mark Bader, the women in Krasnoyarsk are gorgeous! (Just from what I saw on their videos - never been to Krasnoyarsk, yet.)

their billing/financial program is amateurish at best. I am still reminded once a month that the CC I used that was expiring(for safety), has indeed expired over a year later. I paid for the All-Star match and then went to cancel the subscription, the option to unsubscribe was nowhere to be found on the website. The link that was provided to the cancellation page was just an endless loop. Just seems like a scummy way to do business, make it really easy to sign up... but to cancel it, they make you jump through hoops at their convenience. No thanks, they'll not get another dime from me until they show a little more concern with this part of their business, not the kind of operation I want having a CC number of mine.

recurring billing is the industry standard. just about everyone uses it. i signed up for btn today to watch a few duals, and guess what, it's a recurring process. i'll be charged every month. to cancel, i have to find the links on their page, just like you do on flo. there's not exactly flashing neon lights telling you how to go about it. i just went through the process of figuring out how to cancel btn, because i know i'll want to when the season ends. you just click on a menu option at the top of the page and go through a couple more links.

same with flo. i don't think very many people are patient and diligent enough to actually go through the process, because it's quite simple. you click on your name at the top of the page and go to 'account settings'. if that escapes you, you can click on support and write an email.

have there been problems with the support/email option? sure. but its exponentially better now. quite honestly, when we first started doing live events, our support staff and process wasnt prepared for that type of volume. that's now changed.

we're certainly not trying to get over on people and trying to make a quick buck. we plan to be in this for a long time and the wrestling community is important to us. in the end, we're trying to grow the sport and it's accessibility and reach. we want users to be satisfied and confident and have the best viewing experience they can.

as STL says above, we invest everything back in to the web site and resources so we can both expand and improve our coverages.

Husker, some of us have actually followed the steps to cancel as you list above and still had it not work. Now perhaps we're not very bright and need additional help. So we emailed and received very prompt and professional responses, (twice in my case). I was told it would be handled each time and it was, only to have the billing reoccur the following month. Perhaps the staff at Flo isn't very bright either? My issue now and why I wont trust Flo as far as I can throw them, (and I was quite the prolific thrower in HS, college and internationally) is the monthly email I receive informing me the card I have on file with them has been declined and I need to update it. I'm waiting for the day i'm sent to collections for over a years service which I don't want and haven't used.

At this very moment, I'f I wanted to screw over someone I dislike, I'd have them sign up with Flo using their primary credit card.

I subscribe to several online sites and never had these issues with the good people at Xhamster, youporn, or pornhub.
