Old_Marine_Wrestler 245 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 Dean. He beat a 2 time NCAA champ that pinned him back in November. Taylor majored a guy he'd already majored.
Perry 1,423 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 Taylor bonused his way through, but his only win I'd consider to be "impressive" was against Caldwell, who he did beat incredibly handily. Dean on the other hand won two of six bouts with bonus, but beat Steinhaus (as good as Caldwell/Sulzer IMO) and then Ruth, who was the number 1 P4P on many people's lists... I'd go Dean, personally. VakAttack 3,987 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 Hard to see it going anywhere else. Then again, didn't Colon just get robbed of the award at the Midlands? It's incredible that Taylor had no TDs and Caldwell still got majored.

VakAttack 3,987 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 Colon won it...... I thought I remember reading it had gone elsewhere against all odds. He definitely deserved it. Sorry for the faulty intel.
Motown98 13 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 Taylor - 2 majors, 2 falls, and a tech. Congrats to Dean on the big upset. Taylor the most dominant in the tournament. Taylor is the best wrestler in college.
wrestlingnerd 2,996 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 Colon won BTN's award for OW, which is different than the official Midlands OW that Colon won.
superold 34 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 Taylor may have the ncaa title all locked up this year. I was still holding out for Caldwell to be a potential challenger. I wasn't completely sure that Taylor's 10-0 win last year showed where Caldwell really stood. I say that because Caldwell usually has a head scratcher or two during the season before turning it up later in the year in big matches. Taylor's decision today is more evidence that Caldwell may not be able to solve that puzzle, and that there is a significant gap between the two. Perry 1,423 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 Colon won BTN's award for OW, which is different than the official Midlands OW that Colon won. So did Colon win both then?
Flying-Tiger 617 Report post Posted January 3, 2014 Taylor won by major 9-1. Colon won both awards.
