Retherford (going forward) vs Ashnault (after redshirt)

Recommended Posts

Questions?

1. Will they ever be in the same league after this season?

2. Will Ashnault end up lost in Rutgers wrestling?

They've practiced together and their match less than a year ago was very close. I doubt a few months at penn state has widened the gap much.

Ashnault will be good despite rutgers imo.

What's up with Ashnault ? Is he wrestling unattached? Don't recall seeing his name this season.

He was in one tournament where the results were posted here in a thread. He didn't place so his stock is way down in the eyes of most here.

I don't think he could beat zain now but their match wss close and ashnault did escape on bottom

I just looked it up and Ashnault lost in the semi-finals of the clarion open to Laike Gardner from Lehigh. I think the distance between him and Retherford is now much much much greater than it was 4 months ago.

People read too much into that Dapper Dan result. The weight allowances at that event are pretty big, and it looked like Ashnault was 10lbs. bigger than Zain and Zain still beat him.

If they went at it in a D1 match today Zain would completely control the match. Just my humble opinion.

We're talking about a highly rated HS New Jersey native and Rutgers wrestling. See Mario Mason and Scott Winston.
