NJDan 1,061 Report post Posted February 21, 2014 It appears all set that Rob Koll's son Will is headed to Cornell. While wrestling is full of brother acts and there are plenty of college wrestlers who were coached by their dads in high school, are there any prominent wrestlers who were coached by their dads in college. Koll himself had a father who coached college, Bill Koll of Penn State, but Bill was retired by the time Rob matriculated-- to North Carolina.
RichB 226 Report post Posted February 21, 2014 Rex Peery coached Hugh and Ed. Doubt anything tops that Bill Koll coached Rob's older brother Chris, But Chris is a much better whitewater boater than wrestler.. Three Lehigh coaches coached their sons Billy Sheridan coached his son Larry to 0-3. Jerry Leeman coached Jay who was was 24-18 Thad Turner coached his son Jeff in college. Jeff was 60-32 and in 1983 a round of 12. Strobel had daughters, Santoro's son is like 4.
LordNelson 552 Report post Posted February 21, 2014 This day and age, does any one coach of a major program coach all the kids all of the time??? Fact is, Rob's direct influence on his son can be managed from alot to none at all with the coaching staff he has. Maybe 20 years ago when college coaching staffs were smaller this wasn't the case?? I think it is more of a footnote these days at the D1 level.
