NJ States

Recommended Posts

How about any updates or comments regarding the state tournament from those in the know! . Who are young kids to watch, possible upsets, etc. What can be interesting about these posts are you get people from all over the state who might be able to pick out some diamonds in the rough. I may be there Sunday so curious as to who to watch or interesting stories.

Pennsyrules-seeding meeting is today at 1--live blog. And NJ.com will have video previews(think they will be available Wed am) of every weight class. I will post the video links when available.

Thanks, I'm sure a lot of us will be interested in those videos.

Yes, they do a very good job previewing the tournament. Most anticipated match is at 152--Jack Clark--who came home from McDonogh against Gary Dinmore(two-time 2nd placer to Ashnault). 106-Beast of the East Champ from Delbarton Ty Agassie vs. Phillipsburg's Brandon Paetzell. Some "locks" but sometimes those always don't work out. Always a great tournament.

There will be some surprises. I like D'arcy to at least give Suriano a decent match at 113, not saying he'll win, but it should be more competitive than the last time they met. I think Stackhouse can give Schleifer a run. 195 and 220 should be interesting. It's too bad Dobzansky is done after this year, he'd have a nice collegiate career.

Early glance @ the brackets have some nice early round match-ups and some fantastic 1/4 round bouts!

Pennsy...I'll be back in a day or two with some thoughts and notes!

Yes. .Don't see Clark losing this weekend in Atlantic City...Can't count Penn State signee Dinmore out but I don't think he will beat Clark... One thing on Dinmore's side is he's been in 2 NJ Finals against Anthony Ashnault and this will be Clarks 1st trip to The New Jersey States and the Boardwalk in Atlantic City.

Thanks for your opinion.

I saw Dinmore's match with Ashnault last year and thought he looked good on top and bottom, but Anthony was a little too good for him from neutral.

nj star-Ledger always does such a great job with HS wrestling all season long....tip my cap.

One quick note and it always brings a few arguements, but the amount of greyshirts in the tourny is incredible. Not sure if it is as prevelant in other sports as it is in wrestling.

sounds like you have a handle on this "greyshirt" situation - can you tell us how many are in the tourney?
