Thanks, I must have looked at the bracket wrong. I've edited in Villalonga as my pick for runner-up.

Plasmodium,

I had the same two picks at 149 until the MO Godfather alerted me that they're in the same bracket.

BTW, gutsy call at 165, but not out of the realm of possibility. Caldwell may have an edge in strength, so I was thinking he'd try to slow the match down and try to hit a bear hug or other upper body throw. Were you thinking something similar? Just curious.

I would have Caldwell practice the cement mixer for the next 5 days and then try to hit it on Taylor in the finals like Rob Rohn did in 2002. That would be the only way Caldwell could pull it off.

I don't think mixers work on Taylor. Look at what happened when Howe tried a front headlock roll, which puts a similar pressure on the opponent, in freestyle. Taylor's hips are too good.

He is more susceptible to the cradle because it takes his hips out of it.

Caldwell and Taylor have wrestled three times in their college careers, including two meetings this season. The Nitanny Lion won by major at the Southern Scuffle. However, Caldwell cut that margin significantly in their bout last month at Penn State. The Cowboy is the only wrestler that has been able to deny Taylor bonus points so far this year.

2013-14 Results:

David Taylor (Penn State) Dec Tyler Caldwell 5-2

David Taylor (Penn State) Maj Tyler Caldwell 9-1

2012-13 Results:

David Taylor (Penn State) Maj Tyler Caldwell 10-0

P.S. Speaking of hitting a big throw, Caldwell's bio says that he was 2x Greco All-American in HS.

I believe Taylor was a Greco NC in high school, so I dunno how much of an edge there is there.
