VakAttack 4,014 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 Ugh. That one hurt. Fantastic match by Realbuto. Flat outwrestled DSJ.
WildTurkey44 321 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 No kidding. Cornell kid looked like a better faster version of STJ. I dont know about hou Vak but i feel Ramos and StJ are a shell of themselves now. STJ is so slow with no explosion or offense this year. Ramos wins by 1 or 2 points against guys he would major or pin last year.
VakAttack 4,014 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 To me it looks like Ramos is struggling under the pressure of winning a title in his senior year and getting frustrated at guys refusal to engage. St. John looks basically the same to me, he just got beaten.
wrestlingnerd 3,003 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 You should never diss Cornell in your predictions again. Karma bit you that time.

Voice_of_the_Quakers 133 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 Curious if we're seeing weight management issues with both Ramos and St. John - 5th year seniors who have completely slowed down at the end of their careers.
scribe 1,835 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 I've gotta find that thread in December where Vak asked me which freshman would challenge for the title from Cornell. I had Grey in the back of my mind, but it looks like Realbuto has a step up on Dean at the moment.

powershouse 106 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 I had to smile when Realbuto put the ankle ride on DSJ - karma is a bitch.
VakAttack 4,014 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 I had to smile when Realbuto put the ankle ride on DSJ - karma is a bitch. Then we can finally expect someone to spiral ride someone until they fall asleep with no effort to do anything else against Tony Nelson?
VakAttack 4,014 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 I mean, seriously, a Minnesota fan talking smack about a ride as stalling? Sweet sassy molassy....
straggler 65 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 I think what this shows again how important coaching and opportunity is to college success. He had national success at Junior nations but I'm not sure if Realbuto would have been recruited by the Big Ten schools. A major program in the region like Cornell is an godsend to wrestlers in the area.
Voice_of_the_Quakers 133 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 Plenty of NY wrestlers used to go under-recruited due to the state's restrictive competition rules and the previous state qualification procedures. However, Realbuto was highly ranked coming out of high school, and I don't think this description fits him.

However, Realbuto was highly ranked coming out of high school, and I don't think this description fits him. Is there any movement within NY to get the state to remove the travel restriction? It does nothing but hurt the kids. I also feel Realbuto would've been recruited heavily outside of NY.....he was impressive at DD last year.
Voice_of_the_Quakers 133 Report post Posted March 21, 2014 I don't live in New York anymore, but as more and more private schools spring up in the state I can't help but hope the state will revisit.
