ocho 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 Lemon pie is not a class act He said that he felt steinhaus was a top 4 wrestler at the weight and it presented a difficult match up for Ruth in the quarters. He said Ruth being able to major him was impressive because of how good he feels steinhaus is. Spoke with steinhaus and he shared that him and Ruth have a great deal of mutual respect for each other. Wire 23 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 I also thought it was classy when Cael brought up to the mat his friend Bonnie Epstein who has helped the team behind the scenes.
LungOne 0 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 Was very impressed with how Cael comes across on TV, very humble. I wish they'd talk to him more and Barry Davis less.
SetonHallPirate 988 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 Quoting JohnDoe2125 on the Penn State rivals board (Blue White Illustrated): "Nico had some problems and got sick on the plane before the flight home. He needed some I.V. treatment and wasn't permitted to fly home with the rest of the team. Cael stayed back with him to make sure he was ok and went home with Nico the next day. That's a class act !!! Kids want to work for a coach like that !"

dutchcountry7 26 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 Doesn't someone from the school have to stay with him since he traveled with the team? This was a story about nothing.
SetonHallPirate 988 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 Doesn't someone from the school have to stay with him since he traveled with the team? This was a story about nothing. Well, yes...but I'm impressed that Cael took it upon himself to stay behind, rather than sending somebody else (like, say, the trainer, who did also stay)
HuskyHero133 52 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 I would like to thing every coach would stay back if that happened to one of their wrestlers. Much more likely that an assistant coach would stay back or something. Or maybe no one if the person had their parents/girlfriend there.
NJWC 305 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 All this for doing what most coaches would do?
HuskyHero133 52 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 Most HEAD coaches would not personally stay. Anyone could have stayed. They have plenty of other wrestlers to worry about and things to do when they get back. Its not exactly saving a bus full of nuns from going over a cliff but its a solid thing to do. simple 296 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 This type of thing happens with lots of coaches and we never here about it. You didn't do Cael any favors by starting this thread.
Flying-Tiger 617 Report post Posted March 24, 2014 I'm sure if they were permitted to do so, WildTurkey44, Red Blades, IRTYTKY, scribe, & BRGuy would all applaud Cael for this wonderful display of compassion for one if his athletes.

What do you base this statement off of? I wrestled for two programs in college, and both of the head coaches would, and did, stay to see to their wrestlers following injuries. I know plenty of other coaches that did, and do, the same thing.
