Projected Lineups 2014-15

Recommended Posts

Anybody close to the Mizzu program think Houdashelt may have been cutting too much weight? He looks big for the weight.

No, Drake is just fine. Fudge, no way Manley makes 125. Waters might go 133, but I know he didn't get as big as he thought he would. 184 would be a heavy pull for Willie. Guess we'll see what happens in the weight room this summer.

Ya, I meant to type McGee, not Manley.

Willie and Jonny cutting down is only a hopeful wish

The scoop at the Mizzou party at the NCAA touring on Saturday - Waters has decided on 125 - Jaunch is cutting to 133 - Cox supposedly said he is going to 285

Go Tigers

Gulibon needs to brush up on his technique and match strategy/tactics too. I always hear the size issue brought up with Gulibon, but never the technique issue. He really let many PSU fans down this year with his performance. I wonder what his future looks like. Will Conaway be challenging for 133 next year?

Name a PSU fan that Gulibon let down with his performance.

Don't include a question in your response, either.

Just the names of us Penn Staters that you claim he let down.

Get to it...

I agree Jimmy is going to be fine he had some tough matches with a few studs but is doing fine he is just a freshmen. in a less loaded 133 he AAs IMO. I would not be surprised at all to see Jimmy AA the next 3 years he certainly has the ability and technique to just has to go do it.

That's right, Old Marine Wrestler.

superold is basically just a troll, and this post you called him out for is a prime example. He's a clever troll, but a troll none the less.

Michigan possible lineup

They should be much like this year, but even more deep. They lose Grajales and Dan Yates, but Taylor Massa comes off redshirt, Massa and Coon could challenge for a title, and a few others have solid AA prosepects. Dutton would be the only senior in the lineup.

125- Conner Youtsey R12

133- Rossi Bruno Top 8 (Zac Hall/George Fisher RS)

141- Steve Dutton Top 8

149- No clue. Steve Dutton/Angelo Latora/Malik Amine/Jordan Amine

157- Brian Murphy Top 8 Jake Salazar

165- Taylor Massa Top 3

174- Jordan Thomas NQ

184- Dom Abounader Top 8 Max Huntley

197- Payne Hayden/Chris Heald NQ

HWT- Adam Coon Top 5

^^VT lineup projection - I'm under impression Nick Brascetta will go 157.

In one of the weekly updates posted on HokieSports, Dresser was asked about next year and he responded that they've got some things to figure out weight class wise at 149. And that either Brascetta or Mastriani could make 149. He also mentioned an incoming recruit that was about to win another PA state title but I can't remember the name.

Probably Solomon Chisko. He just won his second PA state title

^^Buffalo 2015 LineUp Projection-

125- Max Soria-RSR

133- Jason Estevez RFR

141- Colt Cotten RFR

149- Ryan Todora SO (or might redshirt)

If Todora redshirts, could see incoming frosh Bandon Lapi start at 149

157- Wally Maziarz RSR

165- Tyler Rill RSO

174- Rrok Ndokaj RSO or Tony Lock JR

184- Angelo Malvestudo RSR or Joe Ariolo RFR

197- James Benjamin SO

285- Anthony Tufaro RFR or Mike Silvis RFR

Also Buffalo has a lot of good incoming frosh who could be in the mix to start-

125 Kyle Akins/IL and Bryan Lantry/NY

133 Sean Peacock/NY and Blake Retell/NY

141 Rocco Russo/NY and Justin Cooksey/NY

149 Brandon Lapi/NY and Danny Graham/NY

157 Trevor Hoffmier/NY

165 Alex Smythe/NY, Derek Holcomb/NY and Ryan Kromer/NY

184 Daniel Smith/NY

197 Levi Ashley/NY

282 Ian James/NY and Jake Gunning/PA.

My best guess for Michigan:

125 - Conor Youtsey

133 - Rossi Bruno

141 - Steve Dutton (Zac Hall redshirt)

149 - Cam Jackson/Angelo Latora/Alec Pantaleo

157 - Brian Murphy

165 - Taylor Massa

174 - Garrett Sutton/Davonte Mahomes

184 - Domenic Abounader/Max Huntley

197 - Max Huntley/Domenic Abounader

Hwt - Adam Coon

They're solid at nearly every weight. 149 and 174 are a bit unknown. I suspect Huntley is going back to 197.

What happened to the younger Nevinger? He had a great career in NYS and I thought he was heading to UB?

Pittsburgh

125: Dom Forys Fr/ Jake Gromacki Fr

133: Nick Zanetta RFr

141: Edgar Bright So/ Travis Shaffer RJr

149: Mikey Racciato So/ Travis Shaffer RJr

157: Ron Garbinsky RJr/ Cole Sheptock RSo

165: Cody Weircioch RFr/ Geno Morelli RSo

174: Tyler Wilps RSr

184: Max Thomusseit RSr

197: Nick Bonaccorsi RJr

285: John Rizzo RSo

Pitt enters next year with 1 returning AA, 2 returning R12 and 2-3 more potential AAs/R12 guys with a wild card in Rizzo, a 3time PA state champ who played football for two years and returned to wrestling this semester. Another solid dual team but will hold my breath come tournament time.

Don't be surprised if Ryan Solomon gives Bonaccorsi a run for the 197 spot.

Pitt has the makings of a very solid team. Top 10 is a legit possibility.

Pitt has had a resurgence in recent years, winning EWL/ACC titles the past five years. But they have a disturbing trend where they underperform come tournament time. They hit as high as No. 6 in the dual rankings, but finished 22nd at Nationals. THey did have three guys finish in the round of 12, so they were really close to doing much, much better, but still. I want to say they are 2-10 in R12 matches going back the past 5 years? They seem to be right there, but at the same time haven't lived up to expectations for a while now.

RS - All True Freshman like Nolf, Nickal, and Nevills.

125 - Megaludis

133 - Conaway

141 - Gulibon (RS Retherford) (I've heard that Gulibon struggled with weight despite looking small for the weight). I suggest a serious protein / strength training program for Gulibon to mature and get big for 141.

149 - Beitz (Strength training program in off season required)

157 - Andrew Alton (I've heard he struggled with weight at 149 / Strength training program in off season required to get big for 157 / Alton's power moves require physical superiority over their opponents).

165 - Dylan Alton (He cut some weight / Strength training program in off season to get big for 165)

174 - Brown

184 - McCutcheon / Phipps / McIntosh (I heard McIntosh weighted in 3-4 lbs under weight at NCAAs).

197 - McIntosh / McCutcheon / Phipps

285 - Lawson / Gingrich

125- Cruz (7th NCAA's)

133- Beckman (6th NCAA's)

141- Cruz (2013 EIWA Champ, NQ) or Gardner (NQ)

149- Minotti (6th NCAA's)

157-?

165-?

174- Riddick (R12 NCAA's)

184- Brown (3rd at Midlands this year, Redshirted, NQ)

197- Bollich or Diekal

285- Wessel (NQ)

Could have 6 AA's and 8 NQ's

I hope Cael doesn't redshirt all the true freshmen for the sake redshirting them. Lots of things can happen in five years. Injuries, loss of interest, life events, etc. If a kid can compete, I think you have to let them wrestle. That said, I can't assume Nolf, Nickal, or Nevills are ready to go. So unless we find out otherwise, I'll assume they're going to sit. Here's how I picture the lineup:

125 - Megaludis

133 - Gulibon

141 - Retherford

149 - A. Alton/Beitz

157 - D. Alton

165 - Hammond

174 - Brown

184 - Phipps/McCutcheon

197 - McIntosh

285 - Lawson/Gingrich

I have no insight into the Altons, but if weight cutting is part of the reason they're gassing (and that's a big if), it might be profitable to have them move up. In which case, you'd have:

125 - Megaludis

133 - Gulibon

141 - Retherford

149 - Beitz

157 - A. Alton

165 - D. Alton

174 - Brown

184 - Phipps/McCutcheon

197 - McIntosh

285 - Lawson/Gingrich
