LoStNuMbEr 320 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 I'm approaching this from a statistical perspective, but 2012 seems pretty remarkable to me: 125: Matt McDonough 1/2/1/DNP Jesse Delgado 7/1/1/TBD Others: Sanders, Megaludis 133: Jordan Oliver 4/1/2/1 Tony Ramos DNW/3/2/1 Logan Stieber 1/1/1/TBD Others: Devin Carter, Chris Dardanes 141: Kellen Russell DNP/7/1/1 Kendric Maple DNP/4/1/7 Others: Hunter Stieber, Montel Marion, Boris Novachkov 149: Frank Molinaro 8/5/2/1 Others: Dylan Ness 157: Kyle Dake 1/1/1/1 Derrick St. John 4/2/1/5 Others: James Green 165: David Taylor 2/1/2/1 174: Ed Ruth 3/1/1/1 Chris Perry R12/3/1/1 184 Steve Bosak DNP/4/1/3 Quentin Wright 6/1/2/1 197: Cam Simaz 8/3/3/1 HVY Nelson 7/1/1/2 Rey R12/3/1/2 Gwiazdowski 8/1/TBD/TBD This year had Delgado, Oliver, Stieber, Dake, Taylor, and Ruth in it, all of whom are likely to go down as all-time greats, and Gwiazdowski has a chance to go for three titles now as well. Rounding out the "Second Tier" were a bunch of guys who were ONLY two time champions McDonough, Russell, Perry, Wright, Nelson Then we have a lot of guys who had stellar careers but only ended up with one title: Ramos, Maple, Molinaro, St. John, Bosak, Simaz and Rey FINALLY, there are still some guys who have another year or two left that have a shot at winning a title still: Megaludis, Devin Carter, Schopp, Port, H. Stieber, Ness, and Green (And I'm sure a few others that I am forgetting) 2013 might end up being even better since you'd add Dieringer, Garret, and Kilgore, but you'd lose a few of the seniors such as russell
gg121and2 0 Report post Posted April 9, 2014 Of the 8 champions in 1950, 4 were 3X champs, 1 was a 4X AA & 2X champ and another was an Olympic Gold medalist and 2X NCAA champ. All 6 of those guys are in the National Wrestling Hall of Fame. Pretty good year.
