Q and Ruth

Recommended Posts

A while back there was some question about how Ruth fared against teammate Q in the room (as well as against Taylor).

So Ruth ended up 3rd, Q 7th. Keddy was a common opponent for Q and Ruth; Keddy beat Q 13-4, Ruth beat Keddy 14-10.

After this weekend, it seems like the future looks brighter for Ruth. If he stays focused, I could see Ruth moving up to #1 in US.

Ruth was very impressive this weekend. Last year he looked lost, tentative, perhaps too cautious about giving up exposure. This year he is scoring well and, despite almost missing his match with Hamlin while on-deck two mats down, not lost anymore.

That match with Foster was very telling. Especially after Foster's World Cup Success. Can't wait to see this field again at WTT!

I'm not sure that Wright is at the same level as the top three. Foster can always score - on anyone. Ruth presents a similar threat, but is less proven. Gavin was pretty tricky in the finals, very creative. It's not that Wright isn't a threat, but his strengths can be avoided more easily than the other three (or six for that matter).

Ruth is athletic and very smart. Will only get better with more freestyle experience and, barring injury, should end up our #1 and with world hardware.

He would benefit greatly working with John Smith for 6 months or more. This in addition to what Cael has done will help him with his setups a lot. Will really help with keeping from giving up points that should not happen. Smith is much more technical and that is what Ed Ruth needs at this point. He is sharp enough to learn from the best and make the improvements needed.
