Angry_Fish 313 Report post Posted June 17, 2014 Wondering what former NCAA Champs these guys have have wins over (either in NCAAs or Sr. Freestyle). Oliver has wins over ---- Metcalf, Russell & Stieber. I am not counting the win over Bubba J in the exhibition match. Taylor has wins over St. John, Howe & Paulson Dake has wins over Howe, Taylor, Molinaro & St. John Ruth has wins over Gavin, Reader & Bosak Not making any type of point or comparison, strictly asking out of curiosity. Who did I miss? Thanks. EDITED: Added additional names.

TBar1977 4,539 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 Taylor has beaten more than just St. John and Howe. He also has wins over Trent Paulsen (NCAA 2007 157LBS. CHAMP) and Nick Marable (2014 Senior 70KG CHAMP). Taylor beat both of them in 2013.
Angry_Fish 313 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 Ruth has beat Reader from ISU and Perry I believe. Good call on Reader. Bad miss by me. Don't know of Ruth wrestling Perry though (at least not in NCAAs or Sr. Freestyle). When did that happen?
Alwayswrestling 227 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 I could be wrong about Perry but thought it was at US Senior Nationals.
Indywrastlin23 1 Report post Posted June 19, 2014 I could be wrong about Perry but thought it was at US Senior Nationals. I don't believe they have wrestled since high school. Perry won all of those matches convincingly if I recall.
Angry_Fish 313 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 Taylor has beaten more than just St. John and Howe. He also has wins over Trent Paulsen (NCAA 2007 157LBS. CHAMP) and Nick Marable (2014 Senior 70KG CHAMP). Taylor beat both of them in 2013. I added Paulsen. Question was for wins over NCAA champs, so I did not add Marable, but that was a nice win for DT over an American.
Flying-Tiger 617 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 Ruth and Perry didn't wrestle in either style during college. They were in the same NCAA bracket once at nationals their Sophomore year.

tec87 349 Report post Posted June 20, 2014 Metcalf: Schlatter, Jenkins, Burroughs, Molinaro, Oliver, Russell, Caldwell off the top of my head. Metcalf beat Jared Lawrence at the 2008 freestyle nationals and had an injury default win over Zack Esposito at the same tournament. Metcalf beat Bono at 2009 freestyle nationals. He has a win over Schwab and Ware

TwosackJon 1 Report post Posted June 23, 2014 Howe. Howe does NOT have any wins over any national champs. Only a string of defeats and one NCAA championship in the weakest weight class in the history of the sport.
