I never had heard of Life College until I was watching NBC Sports this past weekend. They are a chiropractic college out of Georgia and were competing in the Rugby7's National Collegiate Championships. They did so well, that they actually won their pool, they went on to finish 4th in the nation (against teams like Cal, Notre Dame, Army, Navy, Dartmouth and so on).

Here is a brief article on Life University and the their hire of a coach....

They're a force in the Rugby Super League, too and are almost always in the mix for a national title at the highest level of the sport in this country. In fact, they usually have nearly a handful of guys on the Eagles' national team year in and year out. I've played against them twice some years ago and they are some tough S.O.B.s.

Isn't Lindenwood in a transitional phase too? All of those other NAIA programs only took a year and are good. What is the story with them? Thought they were going to be MIAA conference in DII starting in 2012-13.

^^^One wrestling program currently in the transition to NCAA Div II (from NAIA) is Shorter University. This past season they completed their first year of their scheduled three-year transition. Thus, Shorter, from what I understand, could be competing in the NCAA Div II end-of-year tournaments in 2015.

Lindenwood, Mckendree and Cal Baptist are in their last year of provisional status and if everything remains good, they will be eligible for post season in 2013-14. Shorter comes in 2014-15. Division II continues to grow...

The Rugby Coach at Life University is Dan Payne; a NCAA Div. I All-American for Clarion University (1995). He got into Rugby while in San Diego - rose through the ranks and competed for the USA World Cup team. Coached at SDSU and ran player development & Events for USA Rugby - now at Life University.

He is a hell of an athlete ! Great guy too.

Also Lindenwood-Belleville I think will be NAIA this year. There are two Lindenwood's now. Lindenwood St. Charles (Original) and Lindenwood-Belleville

This from the Lindenwood-Belleville coach.....

"We are an NAIA school now, but our sports will have a year where we cannot compete in the NAIA national tournament. We can in the 2013-2014 school year"

I count 325 college wrestling teams. How many wrestlers to a team on average?

I will say NAIA throws it off as some have upwards of 60, but I think around 28-33 range is typical of most places.
