I think the tournament serves a good purpose in a long season.  There are some good athletes in the tournament, and you have an opportunity to enter multiple athletes in a weight class to get some ranking done.  It is fine for an early tournament, but for sure it is going to get tougher.  Between the Red and White Scrimmage, the OCU open, and this Invitational, it gives you a good look at the athletes moving forward to the bulk of the season.  The Sooners entered multiple athletes in six weight classes.

Even still, I do like seeing finals bouts where I know the names of people involved. There have to be a few solid teams floating around who could scrap!

Just pulling a few past results and I don't know if this year is necessarily any weaker than some past years. Oklahoma only had three champs which (going based on memory) seems to be pretty common for this event. Probably hard to gage how a lot of these teams will do this year.

2012

Oklahoma 155.5 points

Maryland 127.5 points

Army 110 points

American 102 points

Buffalo 90.5 points

Brockport State 22.5 points

2008

1. Oklahoma (140 points)

2. Edinboro (123 points)

3. Central Michigan (113.5 points)

4. Kent State (108 points)

5. Hofstra (104 points)

6. Army (77 points)

7. Rutgers (56.5 points)

8. Brockport (8 points)
