madcat11 420 Report post Posted January 3, 2015 I think Kelly v. Demas could be a lot like Mastriani v. Demas. Kelly is a hard nosed fighter, and often that's more than enough as he showed last night. Demas does the Jordan Burroughs/Delgado back up and shoot approach, but don't confuse that with gassing. rossel3 77 Report post Posted January 4, 2015 Okay, I'll take a stab at this. Admitted Hawk fan, but try to be objective. 125 Gilman wins a close one Iowa 3-0 133 Clark wins a close one Iowa 6-0 141 Stieber ?? call it a fall tie 6-6 149 Sorensen by dec Iowa 9-6 157 Demas over Kelly by dec tie 9-9 165 Moore vs Jordan - tossup, but I'll give edge to Moore Iowa 12-9 174 Evans by dec Iowa 15-9 184 Brooks by MD Iowa 19-9 197 Klap or Burak vs Snyder - not sure if Burak will wrestle, will go with Snyder Iowa 19-12 Hwt Telford by dec Iowa wins it 22-12 A couple of comments - Iowa will take lead with light weights, but Stieber will get bonus, just a question of how much. Sorensen is going to surprise people, I don't normally make bold predictions, but feel confident he'll handle Stieber. Moore and Jordan is a tough one. Moore shows flashes of potential and then falls short. Jordan is coming off injury and is inexperienced, so I gave it to Moore. Brooks is a stud, unafraid, and keeps attacking, a lot of fun to watch. Snyder is a talent and would handle Klap without too much trouble. If Burak wrestles, a near tossup. Telford is wrestling as well as I've ever seen him. 1 madcat11 reacted to this

LemonPie 1,368 Report post Posted January 4, 2015 But since Brands is a dumbass and penciled in Kelly at 157 this year, it'll be 21-
OtisCampbell 94 Report post Posted January 4, 2015 (edited) Maybe just maybe there was a logjam at 149 because they can't beat Kelly. I could see him getting the best of them in the room and making them think 149 is a better option. Grothus and Sorenson are not huge 149 lbers. Mike Kelly is 15-1 with his only loss to what looks to be a top 4 Isaiah Martinez. if Jason Nolf would have beat Anthony Perrotti 4-0 everyone would be saying how it is proof that he is the second coming. I am not saying that he is Jason Nolf or the second coming of anything. I am just saying maybe just maybe Brands knows what he is doing by having Kelly be the 157 starter. Sitting behind a 4 time All American national champ, Kelly has not been able to wrestle at his true weight the last 3 years. He was forced to cut to 149, a weight that most thought was going to be too big of a cut and apparently it was. pm-01 25 Report post Posted January 4, 2015 But since Brands is a dumbass and penciled in Kelly at 157 this year, it'll be 21-13 As a dumbass Brands has accomplishments as both a wrestler and a coach. Then on the other hand there's you - irrelevant in the sport but making posts from the cheap seats. At least you mustered the motivation to put down your GameBoy long enough to share. denger 210 Report post Posted January 4, 2015 May I recommend St. John Arena? In all seriousness, if you can't make it to Columbus, BTN Plus is streaming the dual. It looks like BTN Plus does lots of these, but I've never subscribed. I guess the conference package is worth the extra $5 over the $10 school package, given the next month of conference action. I've been the victim of auto-renew before - my own absentmindedness, but really hate that. Is anyone willing to talk me out of subscribing to this?
