mlbruem 138 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 Just think He could not make weight - If he would have made weight it would not have been pretty. He looked completely drained. Waters would not have been a good person to wrestle in that condition. It would have been ugly. Go Tigers 1 gallison reacted to this

SetonHallPirate 831 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 Alwayswrestling, I find it hard to believe that he would miss weight by .2 pounds if he were ducking Waters. He'd be far more likely to miss weight by much closer to the maximum allowed to be able to wrestle next Saturday when the Big Red wrestles Harvard. hammerlockthree 2,037 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 What is the rationale for saying he ducked him? He....didn't want a good seed at nationals?
tigerstyle4life 6 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 I'm guessing if he was goi g to duck by missing weight it would have bee by more because they still used him. Had he not tried to make the cut he probably could have easily handled Synon..It doesn't make sense that he did it on purpose
headshuck 2,191 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 Seriously doubt he can't make weight. IMHO there's more to the mental aspect of D1 than I thought.
hammerlockthree 2,037 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 What does that mean? No one said he can't make weight. They said he broke and didn't.
rlw028 106 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 So let me get the rationale here.... Garret intentionally missed weight by .2 to avoid facing Waters. He then bumps to 133, wrestles poorly and fakes being gassed to make it appear as if he had a bad weight cut, when in reality, he could have made the weight but didn't want to wrestle Waters....seems like he went to a lot of trouble to avoid Waters.... Or maybe, just maybe, he had a bad cut, was possibly sick this week, maybe was on medication that retains water, or some combination of those things. That would logically explain the missing of weight, the poor performance and lack of spark. 1 brianj reacted to this
headshuck 2,191 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 We were asked to discuss. I suggest the recent loss may have affected him and have nothing to do with this dual and weigh/in. He seems like a well-oiled machine that might not have room for anything introduced like a loss to anyone other than Delgado.

carp 58 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 I had another question about this one. Did Grey weigh in? If so, what goes into the decision to move Garrett up instead of wrestling Grey. I think if I were Grey, I might be a little pissed if this were the case.
jvallstar 0 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 the general theme of this topic is just cancerous. Why is the de facto conclusion that someone is ducking someone if they don't wrestle or make weight. Wrestling coincides perfectly with flu season and given the person to person contact a wrestler has any given week it is surprising if a wrestler isn't sick at least a couple of days a season. I am not saying this is the case, but
LordNelson 539 Report post Posted January 11, 2015 Assuming the info posted here is accurate and Garrett missed via .2, I was way off in my assumptions. I actually thought Grey missed 133 and Koll thought he could salvage more team points with Garrett up. Sorry Grey.....

I am not saying this is the case, but Agreed. I've seen guys get on meds that retain water, thus making a hard weight cut. We have no way of knowing, but shouldn't assume NG is ducking anyone. jvallstar 0 Report post Posted January 12, 2015 I understand message boards are the bottom of the bottom, doesn't mean we can't strive for better. The shocking loss really questions whether Garret was sick or if he maybe mentally broke a little against Waters and is no longer the monster he seemed to be. OtisCampbell 94 Report post Posted January 13, 2015 Why would Garrett dodge someone who just beat him. It is not like Waters is a guy who puts you through 7 minutes of hell like a Taylor, Brands or McIllravy.
Jaroslav Hasek 1,888 Report post Posted January 13, 2015 avoiding wrestling someone who just beat you provides no strategic advantage with regards to future seeding. ducking works the other way around. this thread is a total zilch.
