MINNESOTA @ PENN STATE

Recommended Posts

I'm looking forward to this dual meet between the two top teams at Rec Hall.

I just saw the weekly PSU video, this week with Morgan McIntosh.  He seems like an awesome kid!

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TiQaUrjSyY4

Intermat rankings would hand this match to Minnie in a virtual shutout victory.

I think for PSU to win they need to win most of the following:

125 - Conaway dec. Brancale or Bremer

133 - Gulibon dec. C. Dardanes

149 - Beitz dec. Short or Lange

165 - Hammond dec. Wanzek

174 - Brown dec. Storley

184 - McCutcheon dec. Pfarr (this would be a true upset, but a possibility)

197 - McIntosh dec. Schiller

285 - Lawson/Gingrich dec. Kroells

---------------------

141 - N. Dardanes will likely beat Moss

157 - Ness vs D. Alton.  With Dylan you never know

A. I wanted to post Morgan's video, it's pretty good, didn't want to create a new thread just for that, so started a prediction thread and through it in.

B. Intermat's prediction is a virtual shutout.

C. My picks are what needs to happen for a PSU win.  Do I think PSU will win 8 matches?  Nope.  Is Minnie favored to win?  YES!  But, this dual shakes down to be a winnable match for PSU despite the fact that Intermat would see it a blow out the other way around.

I hope this clears things up for those who are confused.

I guess for the sake of clarity for those who can't read with minimum attention, you need to put in boldface "needs to happen".

Good point.  I think PSU will win at least 6 to counter the potential bonus at 157 from Ness.   PSU needs to bring their A game and win the close matches.  They can do it with a little Rec Hall magic!  They already blew their stinker, they're due for a big one this Sunday!!!  There are a lot of toss-ups.  Should be exciting.

I assume you're referring to Conaway and Beitz.  Both are capable of big wins when you think back to Conaway beating Graff and Beitz taking N. Dardanes to OT.  They've both had horrible losses as well.  We'll see soon enough.

Question:  Will J. Rob push for an optional start?

125: Connoway dec. Brancale 3-0 PSU

133: Dardanes dec. Gulibon 3-3 - may be one of the top 3 matches of the evening

141: Dardanes dec. Moss 6-3 Minny

149: Beitz dec. Short 6-6

157: Ness major Alton 10-6 Minny (wonder if Cael will start Alton in this dual)

165: Hammon dec. Wanzek 10-9 Minny

174: Storley dec. Brown 13-9 Minny - match of the evening IMO. Could easily go either way.

184: Pfarr dec. McCutcheon 16-9 Minny

197: Schiller dec. McIntosh 19-9 Minny

285: Lawson/Gingrich dec. Kroells 19-12 Minny

This match is certainly winnable for PSU. 133, 174 and 197 to an extent are swing matches that could possibly go either way. Penn State matches up rather well to the Gophers this season.

The bolded part makes his post make more sense. The red portion makes it even clearer.

(ignore everything above the bolded part because it adds to the confusion)

Not gonna happen, but what would need to happen for PSU to win.
