Professional Leagues in the United States

Recommended Posts

I think TourACW fits an entirely different niche than the others. Just look at the venues TourACW is taking place in, as opposed to the other three aforementioned promotions. (I'm entirely hesitant to call any of them "leagues".)

SHP, you're right. League is not the term to use and promotions is a better fit.

Global, Flow, and Agon have all made grand claims about revolutionizing the sport and having the best athletes in the world.  Tour ACW seems like they aren't interested in competing with UWW or the others and are focused more on the former college wrestlers that weren't stars.  It is a little crowded for all the different events that are trying to get Metcalf, Dake and Taylor.  Though I could be wrong, it seems like Tour ACW is more interested in the small school assistant coaches or people who use to wrestle but now work.

These are all completely different.  Who knows what ones will be able to last.  Flow has their fan base, Global has a willingness to just throw a lot of money at things, Agon has hype, and Tour ACW offers more matches.  Not sure what athletes and fans will care about more but personally I don't care for the MMA style promotions.

I added AGON once I saw the post about Ramos and Cejudo. They also have Shawn Bunch battling Stephen Abas next month in California.

So now you have four leagues with four rule sets outside of NCAA and UWW rules. A financial focus in one league would make more sense... until egos become involved.

I think the Bunch and Abas match was last year.  They just haven't updated the website.

You are correct, sir! March 15, 2014. The match ended up 11-5 and looked like it was streamed through a cell phone camera circa 2011.

It boggles the mind that these promotions want to be taken seriously when they can't be bothered to update their own information in a reasonable and timely manner.
