madcat11 436 Report post Posted February 8, 2015 Taylor hits Dake style mat returns and then tilts from there. Really impressive. Also had 6-7 TDs
madcat11 436 Report post Posted February 8, 2015 Maybe the worst out of bounds call of all time at 149?

mgrimm 9 Report post Posted February 8, 2015 #out of nowhere (to me at least) yeah, for whatever reason, he seems to be under everyone's radar. Last year as a RS-Fr in the Big Ten tourney he beat Youtsey, lost a close 4-3 match to Mega, beat Lambert, and then decimated Clark 9 - 5 for 3rd place. I know when I use the word 'decimated' people will take umbrage, but Clark had absolutely no defense against his TD's. This year he took 3rd at Midlands in a stacked weight class that included Schopp, Deutsch, Alexander, Z. Richards, Clark, Sabatello, Norstrem, and Jarrod Garnett. RT easily beat Garnett, and I suspect Garnett had no idea what a buzzsaw he was about to go up against.

Only a soph though right? The replay is available if you have big ten plus. Edited February 8, 2015 by madcat11 1 stp reacted to this
hammerlockthree 2,637 Report post Posted February 8, 2015 Just watched it. He kinda ebs and flows. Blocks off one second and then turns into a hurricane of single legs/body locks/ throw bys/ and limp arms the next. Looks unbeatable in some positions. Two_on_one 121 Report post Posted February 9, 2015 I thought Ryan Taylor might win in a close match, but the way he toyed with Richards was completely unexpected. This guy is the real deal and should do well in St. Louis. 1 stp reacted to this
wrestlingnerd 3,011 Report post Posted February 9, 2015 I just watched it. What an absolute ass-kicking. Jesus. You have to wonder what the hell was wrong with Richards, and yet, it seemed like nothing was wrong. What the hell was this kid doing down at 125? 1 stp reacted to this
headshuck 2,626 Report post Posted February 9, 2015 Is there a chance Richards is hurt. Seems like he's lost a few in a row? 1 stp reacted to this
hammerlockthree 2,637 Report post Posted February 9, 2015 I never suspected injury. Awful style match up? Maybe? Flu? Maybe? But Taylor never scored unless he chained two or three moves together impressively. He has figured something out.

Well, last year he was at 125 because Graff was at 133. This year he started at 125 because Thielke was supposed to be at 133. Taylor has looked like this since day 1. mgrimm 9 Report post Posted February 9, 2015 He can't beat Thielke?? Or was he just taking one for the team until he couldn't suck down anymore? Once Thielke couldn't make 133 I think it was an easy coach's decision to move Taylor to 133 and Thielke to 141. I don't know if RT beats Thielke, but RT is looking like he would. 1 stp reacted to this
hammerlockthree 2,637 Report post Posted February 9, 2015 He attacks the body so hard it's not that difficult to imagine Thielke being a bad style match up.
stp 564 Report post Posted February 11, 2015 (edited) Dark horse? Define dark horse. He should have AA'ed last year IMO. RT is full of confidence and believes he can beat anyone. Watch Ryan Taylor down 8-1 half way through 2nd period to California state champ Daniel Gaytan at the Clash a few years ago- http://www.flowrestling.org/coverage/247501-2011-The-Clash-The-National-High-School-Wrestling-Duals-Flo-Major/video/554548-120-lbs-match-Ryan-Taylor-St-Paris-Graham-vs-Daniel-Gaytan-Clovis Edited February 12, 2015 by stp

BigRedMachine 210 Report post Posted February 11, 2015 You have to be anonymous going into the tourney to be a dark horse. Define dark horse. In the 133 title picture, Ryan Taylor is very much a dark horse. Or at least was until that match. Now he might be more of a white mule. 1 jtothep reacted to this
