 Brands is so full of crap.  He will say whatever he wants if it serves his argument at that particular moment.  He had absolutely nooooo problem redshirting Metcalf, Borschel, Slaton, and Leclere back in 2006 when had they wrestled, VT could have easily won the ACC championship had Slaton, Metcalf and Borschel not redshirted.  Instead, Brands was loading up for following years.  Exactly the same thing he is taking shots at PSU and OSU for.

He basically was praising Cael for redshirting his guys and reloading and never really mentioned OSU. So I don't think it goes against what he did at VT. So I think you owe Mr Brands an apology.

Brands is a lot of things.   He recruits guys who are a lot of things.   Who knows, if things continue how they've been at Iowa, he may find himself in the unemployment line at his local state office in Iowa City.  I don't know.   But in this case, in the above quote, I thought he was paying Cael the respect he deserves.   Perhaps I read it wrong.

Brands is stating a fact that Cael held four studs out for redshirt and this year they will be tough...I don't see where he criticized Cael at all -If anything he is predicting them as the favorites but they aren't just going to give it to them (hence, roll over and let them scratch their belly).

I wouldn't consider Brands the best coach, but he is definitely the most entertaining.  He has an actual personality and I love his Midwest vernacular.
