I like Hendricks and didn't know who Thompson was before the fight, I researched him a little and it turns out Hendricks got destroyed by a children's karate teacher.

He weighed 176.5 the week before weigh-ins. The cut had nothing to do with his performance this time. He hired a new nutritionist who leaned him out the right way: gradually.

This time, he just ran into a better striker and made the strategic mistake of keeping the fight on the feet, where he got picked apart and slaughtered. Terrible coaching job by Hendricks' camp. He needed to do the exact opposite of what he did.

There seems to be a seesaw effect where some guys who have cut a ton in the past really shrink themselves down... This prevents dehydration but they lose a lot of their strength and physicality. Kind of like Weidman, who came in super light vs Rockhold and then hit outmuscled.

Either way Hendricks was terrible. He must have gotten really hurt with an early shot- otherwise why just wander into strikes like a zombie? He's better than that.

Hendricks pretty much doesn't have a jab, difficult to be successful against a lanky opponent that uses movement & knows what a jab is & combos are.  In the past Hendricks has had success in standing striking by landing a big punch early or when guys stand & swing away - Lawler fights.  Still though, he didn't have the movement or quickness he showed in other fights, like against Condit.

Was Hendricks really at 176.5lb?  Is there proof of that besides him or his camp saying that?  This wouldn't be the first time stating a weight that close and it not being true.

He was even lighter four days out: http://mmajunkie.com...ou-dont-need-to

Just look at him during the fight after the day-before weigh-in. He was considerably smaller than in the past. I think he atrophied too much muscle and showed up too small. Wouldn't have mattered since he got his ass kicked so badly irrespective of what he weighed, but he lost too much muscle for this fight to ensure he made weight this time.

RIP the monster Kevin Randleman, one of the wrestling's pioneers in MMA/Vale-Tudo, former UFC Heavyweight champion with 1 title defense, 3x NCAA Division I All American (2x champion and once runner up) , passed away due to heart failure. A legend in the sport.

Very sad.

One of the old guard, all time greats.   Unreal athleticism and explosiveness.

Heart failure at 44

Gregor Gillespie is now 6-0 with 6 first round finishes in ring of combat, and has their lightweight title. Hopefully he gets signed to a better organization soon.

A girl was a state champ in high school wrestling and is now a UFC champion?  Wow, they must really be getting serious about that girl cage fight thing they have over there.

Khabib Nurmagomedov, the Dagestan eagle has landed at UFC Fight Night.

He currently holds an undefeated streak with 22 straight wins.

He trains at at Gadzhi Makhachev Freestyle wrestling club in Makhachkala, Dagestan.

His Dagestani father had Khabib train with bears at nine years old... the eagle will soar again.

Yeah he had a change of opponent. While I don't think his original opponent Tony Ferguson would have did much the replacement didn't have chance.
